Dockworkers do not work for war
The Trade Union Association of Bohemia, Moravia & Silesia expresses its resolute solidarity and support to maritime workers, dockworkers and their unions in their protests and strike action against war, the transport of armaments.
The war economy set to prolong the genocide in the Gaza Strip, tensions in the Middle East, Latin America, the war in Ukraine puts the strategic infrastructure of ports in the hands of the war machine. However, the war economy and military interventions destroy countries and their inhabitants, threaten world peace and at the same time violate wages, rights to health and safety at work, worsening working conditions. Therefore, we reject the systematic intimidation of workers as well as of the whole of society, the necessity of preparing for an “inevitable” war conflict. Those who provoke tension and the threat of war are the USA, Great Britain, France and the European Union as a whole.
Refusing the transit of weapons and military equipment means dealing a concrete blow to the war policy that is currently destroying Palestine and inciting aggression and interference throughout the world, from the Middle East to Latin America, to be also important for ending the war in Ukraine.
The OS ČMS also does not want the Czech Republic to become part of the war machine, heading towards the so-called „inevitable war conflict”, to participate in any way in the genocide in the Gaza Strip, the growth of tension in Latin America, the deepening of pressure on free Cuba and adding fuel to the fire of war in Ukraine.
We therefore express our unequivocal support for maritime and dock workers on the International Day of Action for Ports under the slogan „Dock Workers Do Not Work for War“.
Your fight is also our fight.
